I told you before about a Montreal artist that is marvellously versatile (she does Body Art, Photography, Stop-Motion animation, and much more), and when I saw her work on the cover of a magazine lately, I was thrilled! Her name is April-Anna, and you’ll find her artistic work under the name The Art of April-Anna (you’ll find all the links at the end of the article).
This striking body painting work, inspired by Van Gogh
self portrait, is absolutely stunning. Makeup (face, hair AND
clothes) and photography by The Art of April-Anna.
THE ART HISTORY SERIES
Lately, she has been working on an Art History Series, which I think is unique and impressive; a recreation of famous paintings (from Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Gustof Klimt, etc.) on live models. The results are absolutely captivating – you literally feel like you are looking at a painting becoming alive.
Is it us who’s being sucked into the painting dimension, or
is it the character’s in the painting materializing into our reality?
These blurred lines between the real world and the paintings
make for a riveting experience.
HIGH END FASHION MAGAZINE VIBE
When I saw photographs of her recent work, I immediately pictured this kind of visual creations featured in some high end fashion magazine photoshoot, and I thought it would be a good idea to share her work here with you all – especially if you are in the fashion or magazine related industries.
Just imagine a photo-reportage about, say, jewellery, being featured in such a beautiful scene. I think this is enchanting!

Hairstylist : Angelina Villeseche
Creating this kind of work for magazines would be a professional avenue that would be an exciting prospect for April-Anna.
In these series of photos, she teamed-up with hairstylist Angelina Villeseche to create those mesmerizing looks.
AMAZING MAKE-UP TRANSFORMATIONS
I was lucky enough to get (not once, but twice) some memorable Halloween makeup done by body painting artist April-Anna, and they were absolute stunners!
This one was a memorable look I had the chance to wear a few years ago. We added a voluminous flower crown to the look (made by April-Anna as well) for a pretty spectacular effect!

And this one was a surprising and amusing look for Halloween, as a wooden doll.
